  • Eldora Mountain Resort: Just 5 miles outside of Nederland, Eldora is the closest ski resort to Estes Park. Snowboard, snowshoe, cross-country or downhill ski on this snowy territory. 
  • The Frozen Dead Guy: Attend this annual event that celebrates the frozen body of Grandpa Bredo, one of the few people in the world to be cryonically preserved. Get rowdy with festivities like the Polar Plunge or come watch the parade. 
  • The Carousel of Happiness: The Carousel of Happiness is a display of folk art, with 36 carved animals decorated by acrylic paint. It’s also a positive space in the community to share literature, poetry, and art. 
  • Hiking, Backpacking, and Mountain Bike Trails: Explore trails in Roosevelt and Arapaho National Forests and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Nearby trailheads include Hessie Trailhead and Fourth of July Trailhead. 
  • Camping: Set up camp at Kelly-Dahl Campground, just a few miles south of Nederland, or Buckingham’s Fourth of July Campground about six miles west of town. 
  • Fishing: Enjoy an afternoon of fishing at Barker Reservoir, Gross Reservoir, Skyscraper Reservoir, or along Boulder Creek. 
  • Live Music: Rally at a variety of live music performances such as the Hip Hop Jam, or Blues Night at the Pioneer Inn 
  • Chipeta Park Children’s Fishing Pond: Any child under the age of 12 is allowed to fish at this pond. It’s ready with Rainbow trout and stocked just for the kids! 
  • The Backdoor Theatre: Sit back and watch a variety of films including 35mm film showings of current, foreign, and classic creations. You can also take dance lessons on the stage! Tickets are reasonably priced. 
  • Mining Museum & Gillaspie House: At the Mining Museum check out the historic artifacts and equipment that was used by Nederland miners. Then stop by the Gillaspie House to glance at the furnishings and accessories of early Nederland homemakers.
