Where can I find great campsites near Estes Park?

Meeker Park (Roosevelt National Forest)
This campground is popular for hikers and climbers. It’s conveniently located near the Wild Basin Trailhead of Rocky Mountain National Park. 29 sites are available. 

  • Location: Take Hwy 7 south 6.8 miles to the Meeker Park Picnic Area. At the Roosevelt National Forest sign, turn right into the campground. 
  • Season: June-September 
  • Cost: $12 per day

Long Draw (Roosevelt National Forest)
Long Draw is on the edge of the Comanche Peak Wilderness, on the northern side of Rocky Mountain National Park. It sits at 10,030 feet. Corral Creek Trailhead and Long Draw Reservoir are close by! 25 sites are available.

  • Location: Take US 34 east. Left on Buckhorn Road, CR 27. It turns into Stove Prairie Road. Left on US 14, Poudre Canyon Hwy. Turn left on CR 156, Peterson Lake Rd/Long Draw Rd. Right on Long Draw Rd. Continue to campsite. 
  • Season: July-November 
  • Cost: $18-$36 per day

Olive Ridge (Roosevelt National Forest)
This campground is heavily wooded and offers more than 50 campsites. It’s conveniently located near Estes Park, and the Wild Basin Area of Rocky Mountain National Park. 

  • Location: Take Hwy 7 south 9.4 miles to Olive Ridge sign. At the sign, turn right onto C.R. 84. Road goes immediately left. Follow road to campground. 
  • Season: May-September 
  • Cost: $21-$42 per night 
  • Services: Vault Toilets, Water Hydrants, Playground

Hermit Park Open Space (Larimer County)
Want to be further from your neighbor’s tent and closer to the wild? Hermit Park has 1,362 acres of preserved open land. Escape to Kruger rock to see views of Longs Peak and Estes Valley. 

  • Location: About 2 miles southeast of Estes Park. Drive out of town on US 36. Campgrounds will be to your right. 
  • Season: January-December 
  • Cost: $6 entrance per vehicle, $15-$24 per night 
  • Services: Reservable group pavilion. Trails available for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.

Peaceful Valley (Roosevelt National Forest)
Conifer and aspen trees surround Peaceful Valley. It’s in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, on the southeast corner of Rocky Mountain National Park. 17 sites are available.

  • Location: About 24 miles south of Estes Park. South on Hwy 7. Turn right at Hwy 72. Continue to Campground.
